Cake Style, Decorations and Colouring:

Our cake style is your style! Many of our designs are bespoke so if you have something specific in mind we will always do our best to work with your ideas and produce a unique cake which emulates your style. All of our sugar crafted items are handmade so if you have certain colour, a specific flower or detail on your dress that you'd like we can certainly incorporate them into your cake design.

We have huge colour palate to work from and we can blend an infinite range of colours and shades. We do our best to source a colour match for your cake ribbons perhaps to match the groom's colours or the bridesmaids dresses. Our cakes are coated in fondant which is usually toned in with the bridal gown and we offer a soft bridal white, ivory or porcelain (pale ivory). We are able to blend any colour of fondant you wish so if you fancy something a little different that's not a problem.

Cake Size and Shape

Round cakes tend to be the most popular shape, however we also offer square and heart shaped cakes for weddings. Unusual designs and shapes can be carved from sponge, for example mountain shaped cakes.

The number of tiers and size of each tier will depend on the guest numbers and the look of the overall design. We can offer faux tiers which will be iced to look like real cake if you want an extra tier for height but don't need too much sponge for guests.

Standard sizes are 4", 6", 8", 10" & 12" but we can offer other sizes on request or if the design requires it.

Cake Flavours:

We can create a wide range of cake fillings and flavours, and multi-tier cakes can have a different flavour for each layer, including a dairy, nut or gluten free options too. Please use the below as some inspiration for you, and just ask if you've other flavour ideas.

Rich Dark Chocolate

This decadent sponge is made using the highest quality 70% cocoa chocolate.

Vanilla

This sponge is layered up with ganache infused with all-natural, syrupy Madagascar Bourbon vanilla paste of highest quality. Raspberries can be added to this recipe.

Mocha

A light coffee sponge, flavoured using real espresso, with a rich chocolate filling.

Caramel

We add real caramel to the sponge and between the layers of your cake which is filled with white ganache. A truly sweet and unctuous cake!

Lemon Drizzle

We make our own lemon syrup, made using the zest and juice, which is then drizzled between the layers of sponge.

Moist Golden Rich Fruit

We have developed a rich fruit recipe that offers a piece of tradition without being too heavy and dark. They are baked well in advance and given time to mature with lashings of French brandy which means your cake with be very moist! (Coated in natural marzipan then fondant)

A bit more about our wedding cakes...

We always source the best quality ingredients for our cakes which will be organic and local wherever possible as this is something we really care about!

We use ganache and fondant on all of our cakes with the exception of the rich fruit. All wedding cakes will be split and filled twice, giving a minimum of 3 sponge layers. Some cakes will contain more layers depending on the depth of the tiers.

We are very happy to provide dairy, nut and gluten free cakes but please do note that they are prepared in our kitchen where we handle all of these products.

Cutting cakes can also be provided

Wedding Cup Cakes

We offer cupcakes in a choice of flavours:

Milk, white or dark chocolate

You can choose between soft, swirly tops or flat fondant topped cupcakes. We can offer simply cupcakes or the option of cupcakes with a top tier of sponge. This gives you the best of both worlds. You'd have a lovely cake tier to cut for your photos and cupcakes to give to your guests. We can ice the cupcakes in any colour and can provide cupcake wrappers as an additional option. Prices start from 4.00 euros per cupcake and 85 euros for the top tier. Cupcake stands can be hired. A refundable deposit will be held until the stand is safely returned.

Groom's Cake

A groom's cake originated in the UK and is very popular in America. Traditionally, the groom's cake is served at the rehearsal dinner or as part of the evening buffet on the wedding night. It makes for a good option to have another flavour of cake.

Generally they are decorated to reflect the Groom's hobbies such as climbing, golfing, love of super heroes etc.

The flavour choice for the groom's cake was traditionally a richer, darker flavour such as chocolate or rich fruit. This was to reflect the "stonger sex". Of course nowadays anything goes in terms of flavour. We find that our grooms often love our toffee caramel cake, it's super sweet and delicous!

Guide Prices for our Wedding Cakes

Each cake we produce is unique, crafted to the specifications of the couple, and so the price depends on your specification.

Below are some example cakes we've done and the prices for those, which you can use as a guide. The price is effected not only by the size & number of tiers of the cake, but also by the level of complexity of the decoration work which is a significant factor.

These prices include the cake packed into a heavy duty box ready for collection. They do not include delivery of your wedding cake, which we can also provide for you.

Simple Wedding Cakes - from €120

We offer simple wedding cakes from €120. These cakes come with simple decoration, such a plaque writing & piped pearls, and a plain ribbon.

  • 3 tiers (110 guests) - €280
  • 4 tiers (160 guests) - €360

"Calla Lilly" - A Classic Wedding Cake design featuring sugar crafted lillies

"Calla Lilly" - €360

This Classic Wedding Cake features stunning hand crafted lilies over a plain three Tier wedding cake, creating an elegant yet simple showpiece.

We would recommend a cake this size for wedding parties of around 100 guests.

"Let it snow!" - A Contemporary Wedding Cake with sugar crafted snowflake embelishment.

"Let It Snow" - €420

This Winter Theme Wedding Cake features three tall tiers with lots of white sugar-crafted snowflakes.

We would recommend a cake this size for wedding parties of around 120 guests.

"In Full Bloom" - €1200

The ultimate Wedding Cake offering an incredible centre piece to create an everlasting memory. Here there's 6 different types of flowers crafted from sugar and a huge amount in intricate detail.

A large cake like this will cater for wedding parties of up to 200 guests.

How to Order a Fabulous Wedding Cake

Deposit:

  2. Get in touch with us to discuss things and we'll be happy to guide you through the process.
    Things we'll discuss will include
    • your wedding theme, colours, dress, flowers etc.
    • The type of cakes you like
    • The shape, number of tiers etc.
    • Guest numbers and venue may also have an impact on the design of your cake.
  3. Once we have gathered all of the relevant information we are ready to design your cake and you will receive a price and sketch to give you a good idea of what the finished cake will look like. We'll be guided by the look you're trying to achieve for your wedding and will incorporate this into a stunning, one off wedding cake! (If love one of the designs already on our website and just want to make a few simple changes, such as ribbon colour that's all good with us too).
  4. If you're happy with the design and pricing, and with our terms and conditions below, we will then put your order in our book upon receipt of a deposit.
  5. The cake will be finished 1-2 days prior to your wedding and will be packaged up in a heavy duty cake box ready for collection or delivery.
  6. Upon delivery of the cake we will liaise with venue staff to ensure the cake is set up or stored appropriately. A photograph will be taken and the cake will be signed for to ensure that the venue will look after your beautiful cake as well as we do! Where possible we like to set the cake up at the venue on the day of your wedding.

Terms and Conditions

Deposit:

A 25% (non-refundable) deposit is required to secure your booking in our diary. This deposit is transferable if the date of the wedding changes.

Balance:

The final balance is to be paid 6 weeks before the wedding.

Designs:

All design details must be finalised 4 weeks prior to the wedding. (May not apply if short notice order) All customers will receive a final design sketch of their cake which has to be agreed upon before the cake is made. Changes to original agreed designs may be chargeable. Please note colour changes are not chargeable.

Sugar crafted items:

Although made with sugar/flower paste, some of our sugar crafted items contain food grade wires and are not to be eaten. Some glittered items are made with non-toxic, food safe glitters, however we do not advise that they are eaten as they are intended for decorative purposes only.

Sourcing variances:

If any items are not available we will source an alternative and contact you to discuss. This may be items such as ribbons, brooches etc. We will always to our utmost to provide the closest match possible with your approval. We care about your cake as much as you do!

Allergies:

All of our products are produced in an environment that handles nuts, dairy and gluten.

Delivery/Collection:

The venue will be asked to sign for the cake upon delivery/set-up. Clients will be asked to sign for receipt of the cake upon collection. The cake becomes the responsibility of The Wedding Client once it has been signed for. We will take a photograph of all cakes at the venue. Delivery charges vary depending on geographical location and will be agreed at time of ordering.

Designs and Photographs:

The designs and photographs on our website are the property of The Alpine Cake Co.

Hiring of Additional Items:

If additional items are being hired from The Alpine Cake Co. such as stands, bases and separators a security deposit will be required. This is fully refundable on the safe and full return of the hired items.
Method of Payment: Payment may be made by cash, cheque bank transfer or through PayPal (a 3% fee will be added to PayPal payments)

Limit of Liability:

In the very unlikely event of severe medical, natural, or other emergencies, it may be necessary to retain an alternative Cake Designer. The Alpine Cake Co. will make every effort to secure a replacement cake designer able and / or willing to provide similar products and services as chosen in this contract at the same / similar tariff. If such a situation should occur and a suitable replacement is not found, responsibility and liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event. This will all be discussed with the client before making alternative arrangements.

Refunds:

Refunds are given only in exceptional circumstances as deemed appropriate by The Alpine Cake Co.
